A place of tropical rainforests, of colonial Spanish fortresses, a enormous Maya stelae and of colorful Garifuna culture, Guatemala's Caribbean area has something to offer every visitor.

Tour to QUIRiGUA, RIO DULCE, LIVINGSTON and PUERTO BARRIOS.

This tour takes you to our tropical County of Izabál. It's a huge tour and leads you to one of our most unique regions in Guatemala. It's a region where traditional Guatemala meet's the Carribean and where our guest's, coming right from a highland tour, often wonder if they're still in the same country.

In order to give you the best of this tour, I really would like to know your time table. The minimum time for this tour is certainly 3 day's, but it would be great if you could spare a whole week. The tour actually begins by driving through 3 very different Counties, all the way down to the County of Izabal. Once in the County of Izabal, with the lake Izabal at left hand, we make a turn to Quirigua, the ancient Maya site. Then we move on to the town called Fronteras, commonly known as Rio Dulce. The huge bridge that is dividing Lake Izabal from Rio Dulce will give you a wonderfull sight over the tropical sourroundings of this area and is also the get away point of this tour. There are endless possibilities to spend the day, most of them are associated with water. Rio Dulce is a big river with a huge tropical delta, starting at the lake Izabal and going down the whole way to Livingston, on the Atlantic coast. There is mayor jungle we would like you to hike and there are canoes we would love to sit you in and explore some nice tropical creek's. There are bird sanctuaries, on tiny little islands, we would like to show you and we would like you to have a bath in hot wells right in the river. We would love to take you to Cayo Quemado, a fisher men's village on a small island in the middle of Rio Dulce ( = sweet water river ), drag you to Gabinos' place, let him stuff you full with all the fresh seafood you can eat and have you open you own coconut's. We would love to take you to the garifuna town called Livingston, right where Rio Dulce flow's in to the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and let you experience the enchanter this very different face of Guatemala. If you're interested in the tropical face of Guatemala, I really would recommend you this tour.

The Quirigua ruins, have been declared World Cultural Patrimony by UNESCO.
