Like most good things in life, this tour was born by accident. A couple of weeks ago I was invited by a friend of mine, to spend a day with him and his lovely family in this famous Country Club Del Río. Now it happened that I had some good friends from the United States here at my house, so I've decided to take them along. To make it short, everything was just so great and absolutely perfect, that I spontaneously decided to talk to the manager, trying to find a way to offer this " members only " club exclusively to our guests here at Posada San Antonio. It was a hard bargaining but sometimes I'm really nasty and I finally got what I wanted, - an exclusive package for our guests to spend a wonderful day in this Country Club ! The club, per se, is located in the south eastern corner of the County of Guatemala, on the street that leads to El Salvador, some 80 Km( ~ 50 miles ) away from Antigua. Once there, we usually start with a walk through the ecological park site, admiring all kind of tropical vegetation and moving down the canyon till we reach the little river at it's bottom.
Afterwards we love to go to the pool, just relax for a while and have a tropical fruit punch. Later on we might go to the restaurant for an excellent menu, from their international cuisine, in a very lovely setting. Now, not everybody likes to be as lazy as me, just eating and hanging around at the pool, so there are several other ways to spend the day, - a gym, a sauna, a Jacuzzi, a tennis court, a soccer field and even a small mini golf place. Or you can walk to the small zoo and take a look at a Toucan and a Guatemalan venado. What ever you're up to, this club is every inch superb and you'd enjoy your day.
